Lets say you compress a spring with a force of 50 N on each side.. and displace the spring 5 cm on each side..

Why is the F on the spring 50 and not 100 or 0 N

Let me ask you this then. When you put a spring on the ground and push down on it with a force of 50N? Does the ground also exert a force of 50N on the other side? The answer is yes. So whenever you compress a spring, the force is even on both sides otherwise it would accelerate.

This is from the EK1001 I believe yes?
