Are there any other mud-fudders out there with a comp-bio interest, planning on continuing this in the PhD stage? Do you have a certain project type in mind for the thesis? If you have any thoughts about program rankings, shout 'em out as well.
thanks, all.

Greetings:

I started with hard core biochemistry and molecular biology. I have been working in the same since my freshman year and my project interests started to change last year(sophmore). I worked with a couple of statisticians and computer programers to write codes to analyze affy data from colorectal cancer tumors. I am amazed and since then I have at least one computational biology project. I usually do mathemetical modelling however I am also interested in data analysis. Still, I like bench work a lot too. I did not lose my freshman year enthusiasm. I get excited when one of ten experiments work and I charezterize a potential oncogene. But, it is my sense that I am more productive in computational biology therefore I think in my first lab rotations I will work iin bioinformatics area and then try couple cancer genetics labs. What kind of projects are you guys working on? Are you writing your own codes or are you using a particular language and environment?

Oh man, I did not carefully read your message. I am not in MSTP yet. I am a junior.
