Would anyone happen to know, since the ABSITE will be administered via computer nationwide this coming January, if the format of the computerized version is similar to the format for the computerized STEP exams (i.e. will they be given in ~50 question sections to be completed in an hour, where you can't go back to earlier questions on the exam if you're at the last couple of questions?)

Do most hospitals set up a testing room with computers or will we be required to go to a testing center as we did for our STEP exams? And is it true that the exam will not be given on just one day? Thank you for any clarification.

from what we are being told ...
the exam will be held on select secure computers available at our hospital, not at some testing center
it will occur over 4 days, not 1
the lenth of time for the exam will be longer than 5 hours since it is a new format
not sure if the questions are blocked or not

obviously more info will be coming

did anyone test it out last year?? have any addnl info I know our program was a select screening site, but only a few residents took the exam on computer

Our program is talking about having half of us do it one day and half on the next day because we don't have enough computers to do it all at once. I really hope they don't get too fancy breaking it down into sections. I liked being able to go back and fix an earlier answer when a later question made me realize I was mistaken (although statistically speaking it isn't a good idea to change your answers). I also like the fact that I finish early and get to go out and enjoy my day (since it is sometimes counted as one of my days off-we are a small program and the weekends have to be covered)

I took the computer format last year, I guess we were a pilot site. The test was not in a block format. You could mark questions for later review and could change any answers until you submitted the entire exam.

Really not a big deal...

How many questions is the test, and how much time were you given? Thanks
