Dear all,

After doing fellowship in pediatrics in USA (by internationt student who did his residency in Asia) : Can one work a full 2-weeks period per month (by staying in hospital as needed to fullfil the needed working hours) and get paid the monthly salary?
(The intention of the above is to return the rest of each month (i.e. 2 weeks per month) back to the home country)

Thanks

First, currently it is EXTREMELY hard bordering on impossible to become board eligible in the US in pediatrics without doing a US residency. There still exists a pathway for it, but it's not open to many or easy to talk the ABP into anymore.

Second, there are a range of options for practice after being finished with fellowship. Some academic programs may have 2 week rotations that you could do. This may also exist in some private practice settings. It is highly variable. Now, getting paid a full-time salary for only working 1/2 time? That will be harder to arrange in any setting. Academic attendings often work 1/2 or less time clinically, but have other institution-supporting activities or grants for the rest of the time.

Thanks for the reply,
Do you mean that it is hard to work in USA with doing the fellowship in US only (not the residency) for Pediatricians or all types on medical Specialties?
