Hey guys,

Lots of people have been saying that there are hardly any calculation questions on the real DAT for chem. So my question is what are examples of the "conceptual questions"

Are they easier conceptual questions, because sometimes those can be more tricky than the calculation. Also, are the calcualtion problems really simple?

On practice stuff I spend the most time on chemistry and was wondering if because it's mostly conceptual questions, if the chem section takes less time on the real thing.

Thoughts and help of those of you who have taken the dat would be great! if you guys can also remember any example, that would be even better to get a good idea of what people mean. (Also, some of the conceptual questions on practice are pretty tough. I hope all aren't like those!😕

I really dont' know why the word "conceptual" is being abused so much lately. If you look at past DAT done threads from last year and before, you will see that the DAT gchem has ALWAYS had more emphasis on conceptual questions. Calculation questions have always been thrown in for good measure, but are never really time consuming.

It seems like the word "conceptual" is being equated to increased difficulty. However, your best bet is to check out things like Destroyer, Kaplan, Achiever. It is highly probable that those "conceptual" questions on the real DAT will be very similar w/ minor variations.

Just be aware that people have reported gchem sections with a heavy emphasis on time consuming problems. This is not the norm, but people have reported this.

Your best bet is to be well rounded....there is no way around it...you just have to study everything and hope Mary picks up the phone when you call her.
