I am addicted to brie. Seriously. I will eat a wedge of brie with crackers as a meal. I have actually told my boyfriend that we are no longer allowed to have it in the house.

I'm also addicted to a stupid Iphone game called Dream Zoo, which is a TOTAL time suck but I love it.

And I love wilderness TV shows. Man vs wild, Survivorman, Dual Survival. Oh, and Top Gear UK. Mmmm Top Gear.

Um, are you me? I seriously could have written this. Even Dream Zoo. Also, I branched out tonight and ate an entire wedge of Port Salute. Yuuum!

I sometimes forget that not every classmate is as animal-crazy as I am. I was bored in my physics lab the other night and mentioned something about my cats and someone actually started smirking and laughing behind my back when my lab partner asked how many cats I have and I responded. 🙁 Then later I mentioned something about grumpy cat and not a single person knew what I was talking about. I mean, I know I spend too much time on the internet but seriously? That cat was on Good Morning America 😛

I have five cats. It is a little nuts though, I know. I joke that three are mine and two are my husband's. Two were adopted "on purpose" from a shelter, two were picked up off the streets of Brooklyn, and the fifth guy was a total mistake that my brother's girlfriend found and then "couldn't deal with anymore." We were supposed to be fostering him and trying to find him another home but he became obsessed with my cats - he follows them around, snuggles up with them to nap, and constantly plays with them. It's adorable. It was weird to be laughed at though... I haven't had my feelings hurt by a total stranger in a while. All of my friends/co-workers are cat or animal people so in my head I was just like "why are you being so mean?" 😕

I honestly don't think that's a terribly large amount of cats to own. Many people have multiple animals. Right now I have a dog, cat, and two horses. As long as they're well cared for and their needs are met it shouldn't matter. That said, would like you my adorable but sometimes naughty Maine Coon? haha

People are sometimes hurtful without realizing it. Who knows what this person's intensions were. It seems like all the animals you have were taken in for some reason because they weren't wanted. You have a big heart. Many people wouldn't have to think twice about saying no to adopting an unwanted cat particularly if they are older.

We have a fairly large apartment (and are moving into an even bigger place soon) so all the cats have plenty of room to stretch out and be alone if they choose. They eat great food, get plenty of attention, like each other for the most part, and get exercise/play-time. I have access to (basically) free vet care right now. Between my husband and I, I think we do a pretty good job of keeping them happy. We definitely aren't getting any more though and don't plan on getting up to 5 ever again...

Amazingly, they don't wake us up! Years of persistence have paid off and we have them trained not to wake us before 8am. My alarm currently goes off around 7am and our OG cat (original gangster cat - aka, the first cat we adopted) will climb into bed, snuggle under the covers with me, and *force* me to snooze my alarm for twenty more minutes 😴

I would have been that person that thinks you're crazy 😉 but I'm not much of a kitty person. Most people think I'm crazy for having 2 large dogs in my apartment. And I KNOW my friend is crazy for having 5 horses here at vet school at the house she lives at. But crazy isn't so bad is it? 😀

I'm considered a little crazy because I did xrays on my guinea pig to rule out stones and actually am willing to put some money in them and actually make sure they are spoiled. People give me crap all the time because they're rodents, but they have such personalities and are soo entertaining when they have the appropriate amount of space to live in. And I love that when they hear my voice or me coming up the stairs in the morning, they start "wheeking" for their food at the top of their lungs.

Google Chrome even thinks I'm crazy by putting guinea pig accessory ads on the side of web pages...

I feel the same way. Someone had really good advice in that thread (or the love vet school one? can't remember). It was basically to try and stay positive and not to let other's experiences dictate your own. I play to expect the worst and hope for the best. 🙂

Yeah. I am pretty much expecting to love some parts, hate most and feel like I'm living in hell. So if it's better than that, I'm good to go!!

Definitely do this. I don't hate vet school. It sucks during test time, but other than that, I think it's fine. You really need to take advantage of all the cool opportunities that get presented to you too. It makes it more enjoyable.

Yes, don't let others experiences dictate your own. If you are enjoying it, then be happy and enjoy. But if you are having a hard time, then you should be allowed to feel that way too. It gets rough around exam time.. I have had 5 exams this week and still have one on Friday. The last few nights have been like this: Force self to stay up and study and retain tons of information that you will likely forget (ex: types of brushes used to groom horses), fall asleep while studying, startle awake, study more, fall asleep, startle awake, study more, get agitated because the couch is uncomfortable and your muscles are sore because exhaustion is setting in, keep studying because you still don't know cattle breeds, fall asleep again, startle awake, now your in more pain and even more uncomfortable, get up and get a snack, sit down, study/eat snack (more snack eating than studying), fall asleep, startle awake and say feck it, go to bed, wake up early and cram in the morning, then plead to whatever gods there might be that you will somehow magically pass the exam.

It is hard to describe the type of exhaustion that you feel around exams, but once exams are over.. the relief, is amazing. But really, don't let others dictate how you feel, if you are happy, be happy; if you are having a hard time, then say so, but don't be the happy person in vet school that looks down on those who aren't enjoying it as much. It is hard to admit that you aren't enjoying vet school and to see the really super happy people and then to have some of them look down on you, that makes it harder.

I love the sounds guinea pigs make, and they're so cute X) Wish I could have a couple of my own. I think it's great to put effort into making sure *any* animal you have is super happy!

I may or may not have just spent $50 on them today buying pee pads, whelping pads (seeing if i like them better than pee pads) another litter box and a litter scooper...

I'll probably build/buy new cages for them over the summer so they can have nice big cages when I go home over breaks instead of living in smaller pet store cages when I'm home.

So yeah, I spent over $600 on a guinea pig (when I was a music major lol). He was a typical pet store piggie, got pneumonia a week after we bought him, went to the emergency hospital at LSU, had very low calcium cause he wasn't eating and his bones were too bendy to support his weight, had his back legs hobbled together so he could sit, dislocated one of his hip joints while in the hobbles, it was a huge mess lol. He did recover and he was able to get around pretty well even with a dislocated hip, but the pneumonia kept coming back and he died a couple months later. 🙁

My mother still rolls her eyes at me when that comes up lol.

I'm not reapplying this cycle because I'm taking a year or two to work in a lab and take some graduate courses to see if I'm right and I want this other opportunity more.

This will be my mom's first Mother's Day without her mom. 🙁 So I found a picture of my mom, her mom, and myself and put it in a frame that says "if you don't believe in angels, you haven't met my mom". She's a big believer that her mom is her angel so I thought it would be nice. I'm also sending her a balloon in her card that she can release "up to her mom".

I thought I had everything figured out, but I spent the past two years discovering otherwise. I've gone back to my lifelong dream and feel so relieved. You will get it sorted out. Stay positive and let things fall into place. There's a reason for everything 🙂

I have between 20 and 25 dogs (9 are mine) at my house. Mostly sled dogs... And various other pets and some "farm animals." I'm so lucky that my family is willing to take care of my dogs while I'm gone during the school year. I hate to think that I'll probably have to get rid of them before too long. It also makes me sad to think that I won't get to race them when they are in the prime of life because of school. Most of them are yearlings or 2-year-olds now and have potential to do really well...

I got my first ever spray tan today. I'm pretty darn fair so normally I just slather myself in sunscreen. Sorry if I'm not fashionably tan, I'd rather not have skin cancer. But I don't want to be pasty and blotchy for my wedding day, so my sister and I went (and got an amazing deal on a custom airbrush tan).

I'm not orange! It looks good! Woohoo 😀

Its crazy! I cleared out the cat kennel this morning with surgery and by the time I left tonight it was full again. Took in 4 litters of kittens and a singleton. All but a few were under 2lbs. 🙄 . And two pregnant cats ready to pop. Along with a bunch of other cats.

I used a almost a tray and a half of fvrcp vx and I'm fairly certain those hold 16 each. Just......ugh.

I've always been so scared about that orange glow lol (fair skinned as well with skin cancer removed at 22). Glad to know it comes out ok. I think it's come a long way from its original Oompa Loompa ness
