I just wanted to make sure that I am understanding what I read correctly.

If you repeat a science class then only the repeat grade counts, and not your original grade (aka not averaged). And most of the GPA's that are listed in "what are my chances" thread calculate their GPA based on only their most recent grade.

My story is that by repeating three classes I will have a 3.28 science gpa. This does not include any of the englishes that I have taken, however does include Calc I. Furthermore, I will still have a few C's on my transcript (in Orgo II, Genetics)

I plan on retaking Biochem I, Microbio, and Physics II. I would retake them all but I am already a semester late from graduation and cant retake two of those classes till after graduation anyways.

Although your post confuses me ... I'll do the best I can to clarify a few points:

1. For DO schools, only the retake grade is calculated into your GPA, which means not averaged, but both grades will appear on your primaries.

2. Math classes are not included in your science GPA for DO schools, only MD schools.

3. English courses would be calculated into your total GPA, not your science GPA.

Finally, you should only retake classes that are a C- or lower. Hope this helps.

Thank you boss. So how badly does it look if majority of your science classes have been repeated. I have been doing well now but I was a major slacker in the past. Plus being extremely unsure of my goals after college didnt help. For you see, I am an Accounting/Finance major.

That question seems pretty insane if read independently. How badly does it look having all those repeat classes if your science GPA (DO Standards) is like a 3.5?

Well, the thing is that repeating a majority of your science classes is going to raise a red flag, BUT ... you can't argue with results. If you retake 80% of your courses and ace them, you may have raised a few eyebrows in the amount of credits retaken, but you have proved that you a. can handle the course load, b. have matured, c. that you are ready to work hard. Think of it as a super informal post-bacc. You might be asked a few questions about it, but with a +3.5 science GPA, your results will speak for themselves. Good luck. 👍

Thank you sire for the added motivation boost.
