So I go this q, but I was a bit confused when it came down to the answer choices, and my reason for this is (and I've attached my resource below as well), Goljan states that Bronchiectasis is due to a permanent dilation of the bronchi and bronchioles; however the explanation to this q states that bronchiole involvement will not lead to bronchiectasis, but rather chronic bronchitis.... so what is it?

Goljan knows what he is doing and in fact I have checked so many things he said from Robbins and he was indeed right. anways, Robbins defines "bronchiectasis is a disease characterized by permanent dilation of bronchi and bronchioles caused by destruction of the muscle and elastic tissue, resulting from or associated with chronic necrotizing infections". It further adds that "to be considered bronchiectasis, the dilation should be permanent". Hope that helps. GL
