Whats up guys. Im about to start 3rd year and Im sort of confused about the different FA books.... I went to the book store and saw that there is FA for the wards, FA for step 2CK, then FA for each rotation such as IM, peds, ob etc..
Can someone please explain the use of these different books... Whats the difference between FA for wards and FA for IM.... more depth into the subject? I know that FA for the wards has an IM section. Im guessing that FA for IM dives deeper into the specialty?
Should I buy the FA book for the corresponding rotation im in (FA for IM, ob, etc)??

Also Ive heard that FA for 3rd year isn't as solid as FA for basic sciences. Should I skip FA and go with step up?

Last question.... Im thinking of getting a year long subscription to WORLD and doing all the questions for each rotation that I'm doing.... is this a good idea or should I go with pre-test for each specialty and save WORLD for the end during step 2 studying?

Sorry for the long post. I really appreciate the responses. take care

I'd recommend Step Up for Medicine. I used Step Up and UWorld for the medicine shelf (my first shelf) and honored it. I didn't really use any other books (a little bit of MKSAP). I didn't look at the First Aid for medicine, but I doubt I would like the FA style for that kind of studying.

UWorld is GREAT for medicine, but that's because there's 1500 questions of Internal Medicine. There aren't nearly as many questions for the other topics, so I only got it for medicine. Pre-test is good - I used it for peds and surgery with good results.
