Hey everyone,

I used the search function but found some conflicting info, so I just want to reach a consensus on whether or not I have satisfied the math and English requirements:

For the math requirement, I scored 5's on both Calc AB and BC in high school, but only the BC calculus score earns AP credit. So I have this AP credit, and I also took the next calculus sequence (multivariable) my freshman year. Does the AP credit count toward the 2 courses necessary for the math requirement? I will be taking biostatistics (with bio course code), but this will be after I apply/during interview season.

For the english requirement, I have AP English Language AP credit. I also took two writing seminars, one with WRIT course code and the other ENGL. But the second one was titled "Tutor Training and Fieldwork," which doesn't sound like a writing-intensive course but it was lots of writing plus prep for being a writing tutor. Does this second course seem okay?

THANKS SO MUCH!!

im not positive bc it's been awhile since i've read the bigfatAAMCpdf, but i think for that math AP to count your university has to have given you degree credit for a class. the AAMC looks at what your univ gave you, not the AP itself. if your univ gave you Math201 for 3 credits toward your degree, i think that might count, for example.

for the writing it seems to vary by school. for a lot of schools they want 6 writing intensive creds and are flexible about course designation. some schools mandate that they are ENGL courses, and a few may even specify 1 composition and 1 literature. if you're going to not have 6ENGL creds, 3 comp and 3 lit, i would make your list of schools and go do the annoying digging into each website so that you know going in that you're good.
