I've been searching through threads for the past couple of days, but haven't really found a clear answer for this. I was looking at taking a couple post-bacc upper division courses through UC Berkeley Extension (Medical Microbio and Hematology) and UNE (Pathophysiology, Medical Physiology). I know some schools have issues with people doing their pre-reqs online, but does the same issue apply for upper levels? I would assume there's no way that individual schools would somehow not count them in your sGPA/cGPA if the institutions are accredited and offer undergraduate credit? It seems like a lot of the criticism aimed at online courses is around the lab component, but for purely lecture based courses like these (though med micro may have a lab, not sure) would there be any red flags?

I'm taking a couple courses at a University over the summer as well, but I'm limited on how many I can take due to time constraints.

Thanks!

I am interested in knowing this too. They are without a doubt calculated into gpa/ sci gpa.

Some schools do not accept online courses to fulfill pre-matriculation requirements. AMCAS will add the course grade to your GPA once a transcript is received, and it would definitely count toward your GPA. It would just not fulfill the required course if the school does not accept online courses. Like taking a pre-req pass/fail. You get credit for taking it, but it might not be the credit you want.

If you're just taking the course, not as a pre-req, but just to enhance your science background, the school's opinion of the quality of the program should be your only concern. Call the schools and ask them specifically.
