Confused about voltage...

It's been a few years but I'm starting to question my own competence.


DOes anyone have an intuitive understanding of voltage and can explain?

Having trouble understanding the highlighted regions in kaplan, particularly why the second highlighted region is true.

If you dont know what the source charge is, how can you know the voltage. Even if you know the test charge, without the source charge sign (positive or negative) how can you find the potential or voltage?

additionally this question in kaplan:
"How will a charge that is placed at a point of zero potential move relative to a source charge?"
answer is it depends on whether the source charge is positive or negative.

idea of zero potential point is confusing
