Confused, need help!

I'm currently a biochem major and I'm planning to go to dentistry. I don't quite understand how dentistry works. I know that pre-dental is not a major so I decided to be a biochem major. So my question is, is my biochem degree considered as a pre-dental or are there classes I need to take that are considered pre-dental?

Sorry if I sound ignorant or something, I'm just confused. My counselor didn't give me all the details I need on dentistry 😕.

There's no predental. One must take certain required courses (year of Gen Bio, Gen Chem, Organic, Physics, Biochem + other couses, check specific schools websites (ex Physio, mbio, psych, etc)). Otherwise, shadow some dentist, volunteer and maintain stellar grades, and you're set with some

You could be a music major and still be pre-dental. While no such degree exists (well at my institution), being pre-dental means taking required courses, labs, volunteering, EC, research, etc...to get into dental school. The requirements are different from one career to another.

If you want to be pre-dental, I would suggest looking at the requirements for the dental schools of your interest, and taking those courses as well. Many times, your major will not require you to take courses that are needed in dental school. For instance, you many need to required to take a hell-load of chem classes for your major, but not all those would be required for entrance.
