Hey guys,

Aadsas just calculated my gpa but I have 9 behavioural science courses counted as non science? Is that incorrect so courses like psychology and anthropology are supposed to be part of the sci gpa? Thanks alot

behavioral sciences are not part of the science gpa

Thing is because when they had the other sci gpa category for this new cycle, they included those behavioural science courses, so non sci gpa did not have those in it, but now with the new sci gpa category its opposite.

why aren't behavioral sciences included in the science gpa? they definitely should be. doesn't make sense. is computer science still counted as science gpa?

Yeah thats exactly my point, why did aadsas include behavioural sciences as other sci when the first set of gpa calculations came out, then change their mind and put behavioural sciences in the non science gpa category. I called aadsas and they said they had no clue, and that we weren't allowed to talk to the office that does transcript verification and gpa calculation. So all they could do for me is put a note on my file and hope for the transcript office to get back to me when they can.

its stupid. i put an ecology course i took (and got an A in) under behavioral sciences..that has to count in the science gpa.

The same thing happened to me. All my behavioral science classes were put under Other Sci and then AADSAS recalculated everything and stuck it under non-science. Doesn't make sense to me. I can't believe AADSAS told you they have "no clue." Wut the heck! 👎 I'll be calling them tomo morning and I'll update you guys on what they tell me...

Same deal with me. Haha, Gurl21, good luck getting any clear answers out of AADSAS...you'll need it b/c 99% of their customer service representatives have the intelligence of rocks. Seriously 🙂 But it definitely is weird that they included behavioral science as "Other Science" at first and then took it out. It seems that they made a mistake during the first go-round, though, b/c I'm pretty sure that behavioral sciences are non-science courses according to AADSAS.. But if in the off case that you do actually get a good answer from AADSAS, please do share 😀

Oh, a follow-up post to answer some questions that I missed in my previous one. Yes, computer science is still computed into the Science GPA. And, Newhere, just to share my experience with AADSAS (I know I have nothing but bad stuff to say about AADSAS, but that's b/c they suck and not b/c I'm an inherently nasty person), I've had a note in my file for 4 weeks now asking the transcript verification place to get back to me about something and I haven't heard a peep from them. I was first told that they would get back to me w/in 72 hours, and those 72 hours turned into "they'll get back to you by the end of the week", and then "they'll get back to you next week", and now "they're swamped with work...they'll get to you when they can" 😡 So, moral of the story: don't get your hopes up too much 😴

Good luck! 🙂

Pbure-

Why'd you put that under Behavioral Science? According to AADSAS all ecology classes are supposed to be classified as Biology/Zoology... Did you make a mistake?

I guess I did...dang. It was a course called behavioral ecology so that must have been why I placed it under that. At least computer science still counts..

Wouldn't AADSAS correct that error though? If not, it seems that it would be pretty easy to put science classes in which you got sub par grades into a non-science category to boost your science gpa.

Yeah, I'm not sure... AADSAS is pretty lazy, so I think that if anyone really wanted to they might be able to get away with fudging the GPA calcs by incorrect categorizing. Hmm... Hahahaha, jk 🙂 The only thing I'm certain of is that AADSAS sucks. 🙄

Awesome. Now let's see, which category should I stick this crappy bio grade under...

lol

its true..last year i mistakenly put 2 courses i took to count as 6 credits each instead of 3..and they let it go like umbdays. ironically in one of those courses i got a C..so i guess im the *****.

One representative said a course like anthropology would count as the sci gpa, another said it probably wouldn't!? And to top it off we can't even find an answer because I guess the transcript verfication people just isolate themselves in a room w/o any contact whatsoever.

Ok something just occurred to me....when adcoms look at your grades and look at science gpa, do they really look at the "science" gpa or do they look at BCP gpa? because if its science....this may have just made my year.

they look at both..but i guess science gpa would be what catchers their attention first. the 2 big ones are overall and science..followed by DAT scores. those are the 3 main criteria they use..then comes research experience, letters of rec,awards,extracurriculars..

ok yeah....this DEFINITELY just made my year. funny how the little things work like that...

i got 7 courses in anthropology counted as non sci gpa, but when they had the other sci gpa these were included in it. Can anyone check if their anthropology or other courses listed under behavioural sciences are included in their sci gpa or non sci gpa for this cycle?

I thought the students were responsible for allocating whether a class is sci/non sci, or whatever! Since when did that become the responsibility of AADSAS!

It seems as if AADSAS are slowed down, because people can't follow directions:

anthropology and psychology courses are not SCIENCE!!! (am i right?)

i know it sounds wierd - i think it should at least count as other science - but that's life!

So, my question is how many other people didn't follow directions, and are relying on AADSAS (or did rely on aadsas) to correct their mistakes?

First of all, aadsas included those as sci courses at first in may and june, until they somehow just made the new sci gpa the last few weeks. And plz do not post a reply that has no value, you seem to be the ian wright around here. I asked simply for someone to check if their behavioural science courses were under non sci gpa right now, simple as that. I'm not crying or whining.

sorry about my previous post, now that i re-read it, it does seem a bit garbage, but you pointed out something interesting:

Could you elaborate more on the above comment?

Yea my classes are still under non-science. I called them and the lady I think had no clue what I was talking about but made a note on my app for them to re-check it. This better not delay the mailing out of my application considering everything was submitted/paid on May 31st!!! 😡

Just read the whole thread and maybe you should get it!

You're screwed. Why? Because the people employed by AADSAS cannot get their **** together and do their job correctly.

**According to the friendly lady on the other side of the phone at AADSAS who has no f'ckn idea what is going on, if you have an issue with your GPA and need to get it rechecked, your a$$ is at the back of the line. Meaning if you're #1 out of 100, you raise a red flag regarding your GPA and it needs to be checked, you then become #100 (these are the words directly from the clueless lady aforementioned). I f'ckn hate them.

Are you serious? Oh hellllllllllllll naw!! 👎

Does anyone know how to contact the transcript verification people DIRECTLY? The people who answer the phones at AADSAS have no freakin clue..

I don't know. The lady I spoke with said she 'emailed' whoever has control over the GPA calculations and it would be a 3 business day wait.

Yeah aadsas's representatives seem like they do not know anything? One tells me behavioral sciences should be in the sci gpa, but another says it isn't. Then another says "we do not make mistakes with transcript verification and gpa calculations as we go through them thoroughly." Fact is then why did you include behavioural sciences category courses in "other science gpa" in the first place!? I'm thinking maybe they made a mistake at first then fixed it, but its pretty stupid how aadsas doesn't convey this information to the representatives in whom we can only speak to, cuz it seems like the people that do our gpa calculations are locked up in a room... 😕

Yeah it seems as though the original calculation was a mistake.. but if it was, then why didn't they notify us somehow that it was getting changed.. I mean they have a feature that allows them to message us through our AADSAS account.. and if the original one was right and this new one is wrong, then they better correct it SOON! I, for one, am ticked off (in case you couldnt tell) 😉

Trust me, I am frustrated too that they cannot even give us a simple answer as to if it were a mistake or not!

bump, sorry i didnt submit it 3 times, the browser i was using froze and crashed, and when it was submitted it wasn't put as a new message. please refer to my previous post. Thank you.

I'm not applying this year but. Hearing all this, this is why i think they took out the other sci gpa and just changed it to sci gpa.

Many people have majors such as business, art... etc that aren't biology or chem related so those people i'm guessing most of them only took the necessary prerequisites only. So for their other sci it would probably show up as 0.0. I guess that would look stupid to the Adcoms and Aadsas was like oh crap that doesn't look right, so they decided to change that to just sciences cause that way they just mix in that other crap if you have taken any, if not they just put the same calculated gpa as the BCP gpa.

Thats what i came up with from reading your posts, but that sounds the most logical to me.

It is a common misconception, but behavioral science does NOT count as a science course. I have the 2003 Aadsas booklet in front of me. Anything that could be listed under psychology or social science has the same ranking as visual and performing arts, in that they are NOT calculated into ANY science GPA.

UPDATE:

They freaking MAILED MY APP OUT!! Without emailing me their conclusion!! 😡 what to do?? 🙁

Yeah its been 2 weeks, with me leaving 3 voice messages, 2 emails, and 3 phone calls and still they do not know the answer to if courses like anthropology count as the "sci gpa" category and as to why they included it as so at the beginning at the cycle. One representative at aadsas said it was something new they were doing, another of course just said give it a few days and they'll get back to me. I'm so frustrated, they told me they'd return my call on this matter last week, its been a week already and they still haven't called me back! When I call them its the same thing, they say the transcript verfication office should get back to me anytime, but its all crap.
