hii all

I am just immigrated to USA from India as a legal permanent resident. I have done my 4 yrs of BS in Pharmacy from India. now i want to make my career in medical profession. so i need to give MCAT. i came to knoww that i have to complete 90 credits.

so my question is
when do i need to complete these credits, before appearing for MCAT or at the time of admission to med school?

as i am a graduate student of pharmacy, will they reduce total numbers of credits?

thank you...

I believe that you would have to complete these 90 credits before you matriculate into medical school. Most likely they are pre-requisites and general education courses that are mandated by the powers that be so that we can move on in our lives. As for your status as a graduate student, you must go to the registrar's office and see if any of the classes from your university can supplant and exempt you from taking certain courses at your present one. I don't know how it fully works, but I'm sure they give you credit. G'luck.

OK.
u mentioned that "As for your status as a graduate student, you must go to the registrar's office and see if any of the classes from your university can supplant and exempt you from taking certain courses at your present one."

does this mean like, where i want to attend for pre req, i have to show them my transcript and ask for some exemption, is it so? Any idea, how many yrs will it take to complete these pre req as i am a graduate with Pharmacy?

Well this is a bit of difficult situation. Medical schools want 90 credits done or all of your undergraduate credits at a US accredited college/university. However there are some medical schools which are somewhat impartial to foreign undergrads.
Anyways, I believe one of the popular methods is too enroll in a masters program. I'm guessing that with a degree in pharmacology you'll have a decent grasp on general chemistry ( 8 semester credits), Organic chemistry ( 8 semester credits), physics ( 8 semester credits), and biology ( 8+ semester credits). If you've done those then your good for probably doing a science master program in the US for 2 years and then applying to MD schools. However if you've not done those, you might consider doing a post-bacc or second degree at a US university. Since you have already a B.S you should look for places where your credits transfer and probably be able to graduate with another degree in less then 3 years upon which you can study for the mcat.

Though I will have to admit that having read your post. Your English is rather weak, so doing some supplementary English comp in a University or Masters program will be a must.
