I asked an MD and DO for a LOR , and they both said " sure, you write it and I will sign it"

I gave the same letter to both docs. The MD one put a really cool letter head on it. I have no idea what the DO did to his.

In fact I'm not sure he did anything to it. would do schools like a fancy letter from a Md over a mundane looking letter from a Do?

How strictly is the letter head requirement held to considering we can't see the final letter?

Thanks

Probably the DO letter would be better for an osteopathic medical school application. Obviously do not submit both if they are identical. This situation shows how bull**** the whole process is...

Some schools "screen" for the quality of rec letters. For example, DMU.. They look for whether the letter said you "shadowed", relation to the writer and letterhead/signed.

You should confirm with the writer. You don't want your letter to get rejected!

We don't care if there's a letterhead or not. Osteopathy is such a small community that the odds are A DO on the AdCom will likely know the DO LOR writer!

I can't believe this is a legit topic. Why in the world do you think professional schools are going to care about how pretty a letterhead is? All that matters is the content.

Wait, you gave the exact same letter to each physician? Why wouldn't you write two different letters? You had the chance to have two OUTSTANDING LETTERS from two physicians. It's going to look really odd if you send in two exact letters from different people ...

:beat:+pity+ I am a ***** ^^

Honestly I didn't expect one of the doctors to come through ( the DO ) . I didn't know him well and I hadn't heard from him in months. I wasreally surprised to get his LOR.

But I figure I only need one . I will use the ugly DO one for all schools .

Haha, you're not a *****. This whole process has everyone flying by the seat of their pants and we all make silly mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20, right?
