I started out at a university, and went two full semesters. I didnt really have a clear goal and as such, my grades suffered. I left after a year and attended a community college, obtaining an associates in arts with a 3.4 GPA. Now I am back at the university and have taken two semesters, including bio I and II, Chem I and II and have a ~3.8. I have the option to bankrupt those first two university semesters(which of course I will) since I replaced all of the classes in some form at the community college. This means my GPA will start with the 3.8 and hopefully stay there. So basically my question is how bad do you think those first two semesters will hurt my application chances, even though they are not figured into my GPA?

I could be wrong, but I beleive that regardless of what your school does, AADSAS will probably calculate those first 2 years into your GPA. Unless your university completely removes all record of you having taken those courses, then you will have to report them to AADSAS.

But to answer your questions, I doubt they will appreciably hurt your chances so long as you maintain good grades from here on out.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure those first two semesters will count toward your overall gpa.

Aadsas will count those first two semesters, it takes into account all college credits taken.

So would I be better off retaking the lot? If they will count towards my application GPA regardless?

Also keep in mind that some dental schools don't count CC credits.

The best course of action would be to choose a new major and go a different route. Then you will not even need to worry about the first few semesters.

Basically for AADSAS you must show every class you took (for every year). This is incuding your freshman year. Unforunately I will be doing the same thing for my second and 3rd semester. If you dont you can run the risk of being cought and you get into a lot of trouble.

Continue with whatever your doing, keep taking your sciences. Keep getting good grades, and do well on the DAT.
You will be fine. Schools will look more closely at your years after the CC then before. Especially your sciences.
