hey

is it true that we need to do residency/housejob of 1 year in our homecountry in order to fulfill requirements of some USA dental schools

i was going through michigan dental school and it says for application process we need to submit proof of license !?!

i thought they only needed our documents for evaluation.toefel score and part 1 score
thats all

since when did they start asking for residency certificate ?
that means we have to wait a year to complete their process

kindly help me out

Thanks

Hi,

As far as my home country is concerned, we need to finish 4+1 years course to get a dental degree. Then we need to register with the dental council to be a licensed dentist to be able to work. So this is the process by default.

I am hoping they are refring to this license certificate. same applies to the residency course. which means that one need not be a post graduate to get the license to work in capacity of a general dentist.

Hope am correct. Any other thoughts?

Advanced standing program applicants are expected to be licensed dentists in their home country. If licensing authority in your home country requires mandatory internship for licensure; then you have to comply to apply here in USA.
