Congrats to the newly matched 4th years! How did you decide between county, community and university/academic EM programs? What pro's and con's did you see from each?

I think you’re probably selecting the worst group to answer the question posed. Asking someone who has finished training and gone out into the community could give you much more insight into the pros and cons of each, as opposed to those who literally have not yet worked a shift as a doctor.

Also, search the forum as this has previously been discussed.

These three categories are not helpful when it comes to choosing your training site. They are proxies for the things you may actually care about: patient volume, patient acuity, patient socioeconomic status, state of the hospital facilities, number of consulting services, and hospital referral type (primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary).

The county/community/academic distinction may hold more meaning when looking for attending positions, but even then it's only a proxy for more meaningful information.
