VP of Social Media is a thing now I guess
with those dreamy green eyes, why not?
lets just hope our societies don't start up with instagram accounts...
Is ASPN something new? Is it because of the other pain society filing for bankruptcy? Feels like there’s a back story somewhere.
It's the hipster pain society. A lot of backstory will be revealed in Vegas.

Long day - am I detecting an element of sarcasm in this thread? Or am I overthinking?

Why so cryptic? When you truly know that back story...and you find out who is profiting from the new companies ...and once you connect the dots ...you get to sit back laugh and realize why people call pain medicine one of the scummiest professions out there.

This form is starting to sound like Fox News, unfounded negative assumptions based on a personal opinion.

Check out the link to the leadership posted above. More industry owned ****** than anything. Some good docs, but the money flowing through these guys makes taking anything they say as a paid advertisement.
Take it from a former *****...2007-14

Are you saying they're not qualified?
Shills?
wh ores
I'm just wondering is this new society necessary? What void does it fill?
I think that there's a sense that the older pain societies have fossilized and not been effective at advocating for more sustainable reimbursement, etc. There's not a been good mentorship and a pipeline for the kind of advocacy the field needs---look at the CDC debacle, the rise of pain GIGO meta-analysis, etc. The SISsies and SIPP'ers haven't moved the needle and delivered what's needed in the interest of pain patients.

The SIPP'ers do--actual guidelines in fact. The SISsies haven't published anything yet.

The main goal of working in conjunction with industry is for field preservation:When you truly know that back story...and you find out who is profiting from the new companies ...and once you connect the dots ...you get to sit back laugh and realize why people call pain medicine one of the scummiest professions out there.
Sdn posts - fun but meaningless -
Pubmed articles, best practices, continuing education, and innovation - meaningful.
Other societies have become complacent and put up barriers to entry. Aspn is the opposite of that.

Spot on.
I think we need to look at and think about who represents our field. You can call the SIS leaders fossils but they all have a passion for the science and they have integrity. I trust what they say and think that they are not self serving. I don’t think you can say the same about the leaders of other societies. Perhaps it takes a bit of a crook and a ***** to advance our cause financially. If that is true then the other societies are absolutely moving in the right direction. I don’t put Tim Deer in that category. He is a skilled, bright guy who has been very very successful and has been around a long time. The people riding his coattails are very suspect.
so says the poster who calls himself needlejockey. The irony is palpable?

SDN meaningless - eh, I think we all get/share a lot of good info here
pubmed articles, best practices, continuing ed, innovation - do we not discuss all of this here? (not saying the societies aren't needed for this)
What I posted was from 2013 to 2016Was that what he made in one year from speaking or total? Please god don't tell me it's in one year! I need to up my game

The conversations on SDN have shaped and influenced many back table discussions over the years. It's actually quite amazing.
