Hi everyone,
I tried searching for the answer to this question on this forum so thought it original enough to warrant its own thread.
What exactly is the difference between ring enhancing and regular contrast enhanced? Or is all contrast enhanced lesions = ring enhanced lesions. Are there any contrast enhanced lesions that are homogenously white rather than just a rim around the outside?
I understand the DDX for ring enhanced lesions are quite long. Everything from all types of infections to tumors. To narrow it, are certain ring enhanced lesions solitary versus multiple?
The next question is a little different. Entamoeba is usally solitary lesion in the liver. Is Echinococcus usually solitary or multiple? I understand that the multilocularis species is multi-loculated (meaning many different compartments within one lesion) but is the granulosus type more than one lesion?
Finally, off topic again. But which contrast medium do you not want leaking out into body cavities? Barium? Regular contrast? Are there contrasts which the body can absorb naturally?
Thanks a bunch for anyone that can help out!
