I was editing my previous post but got logged out probably on account that I took too long.

Anyway onto my question,

I am currently a senior and am majoring in biochemistry and psychology.I have worked with toddlers in a sunday school during my freshman year and worked as a science specialist in a camp that summer. During my sophomore year, I volunteered in a hospital and worked as a private tutor. That summer I worked as a health director in the summer camp. This past summer I took independent research psychology classes and will continue on to an honors thesis in my lab. We research infants and children with autism. I have a feeling that my experience is insufficient.
What do you think?

I plan to take the MCAT in January for the first time. If all goes well I can probably fit in a shadowing next summer. However I have no connections in the medical field and the doctors i spoke to in the hospital quickly brushed me off with HIPPA laws. If you think i need to shadow a physician how do I go about this in a way that I will get results?

Thank you and sorry for the disruption ( feel free to delete my previous post)

Shadowing physicians is just contacting enough doctors until one of them says yes. If you tell them you're interested in medicine and considering applying to med school, many physicians are more than happy to have you shadow them. Try contacting both hospitalists and private practice clinicians.

Shadowing "requirements" vary from school to school and admissions committee member to admissions committee member. Try calling or e-mailing physicians or program directors at teaching hospitals. If that fails, open a phone book and start calling private practice groups and insist on talking to a physician and not a secretary or office manager.
