Hello all,
Could some one kindly explain why the y-wave in restrictive pericarditis exaggerated instead of blunted?? Isn't this disease ristricting the ventricular filling? Why isn't it like the cardiac tamponade???
Many thanks

It's steep because the RV is rapidly filled relative to a normal heart. The y descent is absent in tamponade because the RA is always at high pressure, whereas in constrictive pericarditis the RA is able to empty and relieve pressure.
