I've heard many people suggest that it is beneficial for minority applicants to contact the Offices of Minority Recruitment or the Multicultural Resource Center at potential medical schools that we would like to apply to. I want to do this. However, I don't know what to contact them about. How do you initiate conversation with these people and what kind of things do you ask? What kind of information do they provide you with and for those who have tried this, how has it or did it, help you in the application process?
Thanks for the answers!

I'm so glad you made this thread... I was just about to start working on contacting a few people 😀

Your first stop is the Internet sites of any medical schools that interest you. You are likely to obtain contact information from these sites.

Once you obtain this information, you can write a letter of inquiry and ask any questions that you like such as (but not limited to):
  • Diversity Organizations (SNMA, Latino Medical Student Association)
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Contact information for current medical students
  • Fellowship opportunities
  • Possible mentorship programs
  • Curriculum questions (Diversity training)
