Hi, I am taking a year off and interested in becoming a full-time RA before applying to graduate schools. I have found some positions at local schools and want to get involved, but am unsure of how to contact these professors. Should I be sending simple emails asking if they hire full-time positions for recently graduated students, or should I be introducing myself and saying why I want to join the lab (obviously very briefly, but not sure if they want to be reading this stuff). Please shed some light! Thanks in advance.

Perhaps both in one email? Like ask and then explain why you would be a good choice if they do.

Should I be including my resume in the initial e-mail?

I think this has recently been discussed on one or more threads. Try searching for threads with "POI" or "POIs" in the title.

Is there a difference contacting a POI for grad school vs. one for just a one-year (at least, maybe 2) full-time RA assistant position?
