Right now I'm registered for the summer session (psych and upper bio class) and the fall (retake bio 1 and some other thing I can't remember) partly because it will allow me to defer my student loans, and partly because it will help my GPA if I end up having to reapply next cycle.

My AACOMAS sGPA is 3.22, cGPA is 3.18, MCAT is 33Q. I'm trying to be confident that I will get in somewhere this cycle and thus am less willing to take classes to continue to increase my GPA. I'm pretty sure there is some sort of "financial hardship" deferment, which I would definitely qualify for.

Anyone else in this situation or been in this situation? If I do decide to not take classes, I will use the time to volunteer and possibly shadow more or try and do some research (I'm already working 40 hours/week).

I'm doing the same thing. I'm taking an anatomy course online with WVU, as well as a chem class, which is also online. I figured I'd try to boost my GPA as much as possible.

Well the thing is I might not need another year of classes to bump my GPA assuming that I get in this cycle. However, there obviously is no guarantee I will get in :/

Sounds good. Retake any science C's in the summer, as it will boost your sGPA and you can update your transcripts and tell your schools in August. It might turn the tide if the adcoms are on the fence with you.

This was my plan, but the only Cs I have left are either not offered by this school, not offered in the summer, or are evening only (in the summer) which doesn't work because I work in the afternoon/evening. So my two summer classes would be new credits and not even "impressive" courses. Think that's worth it? Or would it be better to spend the time volunteering and picking up a new hobby or two so I have more to talk about during interviews (assuming I get any)?

I dropped all my fall classes after much debate so I'm kind of in the same boat with you. Do you need to take more to graduate? I plan on meeting with my advisor next week so hopefully she doesn't say it was a stupid choice. I plan on taking the EMT-I class, working, and retaking ochem. May as well save some money and gain some new experiences, right? I hope! haha

Nope, I'm a non trad; graduated in 2010. SDN is my only advisor since I've been out of undergrad for so long and am currently taking courses at a community college.
