I was wondering if anybody here has taken their Step with only 3 rotations or so? Is it adequate to go sit down for your step with out having done OBGYN, Peds and Psych? Is studying from textbooks enough to get a 90 and above?
Thanks

Our school didn't let us register until we were done 3rd year clerkships... not sure how/if they enforced that, but they told us so.

I would not take it before doing those rotations though- I suppose you could study to make up for it, but actually Doing the medicine really helps me remember a lot better.

Not a good idea. Psych and surgery I think are easiest to study for without the rotation. Surgery because test questions and rotation experience are entirely different. Psychiatry because step 2 questions are the same as step 1 for the most part with a few more drug questions and tougher ethical scenarios---but there is no way you can prepare for those and almost never do you see them in real life the way they ask them on the boards. But no way is it not disadvantageous to take it without ob and peds. (and medicine, and probably outpatient medicine and neuro if those are required where you are.)
