Cornell HCEC LOE

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know anything about the impact of the LOE on the application process?

Its one of the more important considerations for a lot of schools, mostly just due to the fact it includes info about pretty much everything you have done in undergrad and draws from your professor recs.

So if you have good stats, recommendations, extracurriculars, research, etc. then almost by default your going to have a good LOE.

It's definitely one of the most important pieces for schools that look at the whole student. If you apply to schools that just look at numbers than it won't be much help until later in the process.

Every school, in this case Cornell, wants its students to get into good schools. This means that they'll write you good LOEs. I'm pretty sure the chairman last year said they won't write negative letters.
