Just a couple of questions about Cornell, but might be applicable to others for different schools:

1. I emailed Cornell telling them that I'd be in NYC in late October and they replied "We understand that you will be coming to New York City at the end of October and have requested that we look into the possibility of interviewing you then. There is still no decision on your application at this point, and we cannot give you an estimate as to when a decision will be made."

Does this imply that they would at least give me some correspondence or update on my status before I go to New York? If they don't, can I ask for an update because I am trying to finalize flight plans and accommadation. When do you suggest doing this? Thanks.

2. Has anyone been rejected by Cornell yet?

Translation:
We're reading as fast as we can but when we send your application to a faculty member & give him two weeks to get it back to us with comments and then send it to a second facutly member who also has two weeks to read & comment we're looking at a month -- if everyone meets their deadline. Sometimes the faculty surprise us and do everything well before the deadline and so you could get lucky and be reviewed in under a week or it could take six weeks.

No news is no news.

Thank you so much for that!!!! I had no idea how the process worked 🙂

So, I just recieved an interview invite from cornell, which made me laugh because instead of being titled "interview invitation" or something, it just says "Schedule your interview with Weill Cornell" like an order. BUT, the problem is, i wont have my prereqs done on time. And I think they (should) know this because they know i've been involved in a year long fellowship since June, and until june 2007, abroad (and i think it's maybe a reason they liked me). So... i have no idea what to do. Has anyone interviewed at cornell who will not have the prereqs done on time?

I just responded to your other post. I was also invited there, and I haven't finished my prereqs. I haven't asked them about it, but I can't imagine that we're the only two people they invited to interview that haven't finished the requirements.

for those of you who've gotten cornell invites, how long have you been complete?

Ah good to know other people are having the prereq problem! Does anyone have any insight on this? I also am planning on not saying a word unless I get accepted and want to attend.

if you haven't finished prereqs... wouldn't Cornell already KNOW because they have your transcript anyway? And if they gave you an interview, they probably don't care that you haven't finished these, right?
