Hi, I'm thrilled to get into both amazing schools, and now I'm stuck!

I'll be OOS for both schools, and I know the tuition for both schools is pretty similar, even after considering CoL in each city.
I want to do a specialty after vet school.
The main differences I noticed between the two schools are: location (big city vs. isolated city) & clinical year (Cornell: 4th year vs. Penn: 3rd & 4th year)
Penn is now doing 2 years of clinical years and now sure if I'd like it or not.
What I would like about Cornell: clean & quiet & all-in-one CVM campus (vs. Penn's campus is kinda spread out)
What I would like about Penn: better weather (warmer) & accessible to cities nearby

Based on the factors I've considered so far, it's very hard to choose. Is there any question I should ask myself to find out what I care more about?
I'd be grateful if someone could share their experiences or opinions to help with my decision. Thank you!

I was admitted to both and chose Cornell primarily because of the location— I have been to the Penn campus and that area of Philly is way too busy for me. I'm excited to be in a low-traffic, horse-heavy area. Plus, Ithaca is absolutely beautiful. It will be much easier to board my horse and, though cost of living is high in Ithaca, it's cheap just a few towns over if you have a car.

Is PBL a good fit for you? Do you think you would thrive more with 1 or 2 years of clinicals?

I do well in lectures but think PBL will implant things in my brain better. I think either school is an excellent choice.

Hi! I'm currently at Cornell and love it! Ithaca is a little more isolated but I have found everything that I need in the area. It is a really pretty city with a lot of nature activities and waterfalls. It will definitely be quieter than the city. The barns are about 5 minutes off campus so everything you need for the vet school is super close and the hospital is connected to the school so you don't even have to go outside for that! Clinics are during 4th year which starts in May of your 3rd year and goes throughout the summer until the next May. You have the opportunity to tailor your clinical year towards your interests which I think is really nice. It is a long year, but you get so much experience!

A fourth year just posted something about surgery and the amount of hands on experience on the Penn forum so you might want to check that out!
