Hi all, I feel very fortunate to be in this position right now, but I was wondering if you could clarify some aspects of the schools for me. I am heavily leaning towards Cornell primarily for family/personal reasons, but I do realize either school would give me a great education. I would appreciate comments on the following points, especially from attendees/alumni, thanks in advance!

1. School culture
2. Grading (They both seem to be pass/fail to some extent but then internally rank)
3. Clinical Opportunities/Research (I feel like Pitt's network and hospital may be better for clinical training but I may be wrong)
4. Allotted research time (Cornell now has the 6 months of research, and I know Pitt actively supports student research)
5. Location (Both locations seem great)
6. Anything else that jumps to mind that you may think is important

Thank you!

neither cus i am waitlisted at both

lol, but in all honesty, i would choose Cornell due to location (SO lives near there). they are both nearly equivalent in all other measures for me.
congratulation on these acceptances btw! amazing feat

Edit: my younger brother is at Pitt undergrad, and I will say that getting there isn't easy. Amtrak is probably the only reliable public transit option since flights are not cheap. the drive there from NY/Philly area is easy but boring...

1. Culture is hard to say, I've heard good things about both. Cornell has smaller class sizes, so maybe that is a point in its favor
2. Do they internally rank? That would be news to me
3. Both are good, an advantage of Pitt is that it's the only medical school for the city and region so they have absolutely everyone coming in
4. Cornell has more time set aside, Pitt has a research thesis as well but it's up to you how much effort you want to put into it
5. Pitt and NYC are really different, depends if you like huge cities or not
6. Family and personal reasons seem like very good reasons to choose Cornell

I’m also trying to make this decision. They seem very very similar on all the important points (plenty of research, great clinicals, strong match list etc)... really hard to decide! I’ll let you know if I find out anything helpful
