I’m stuck choosing between UMN and Cornell for vet school this coming fall. Both schools would be within a similar cost range, so cost is not the main criterion right now. I’m admitted to Cornell but waitlisted at UMN right now.
I’m curious about current students’ perspectives on student life, living in Ithaca vs Minneapolis, and generally how happy people are at each school. I understand that this is different for everyone and everyone can “find their place” but I’m just looking to hear perspectives.
I’m leaning towards Cornell because of their shelter medicine opportunities and curriculum, but am also slightly worried about the grey winters + some experiences with arrogant/stuck-up students there. Basically just don’t want to end up isolated and unhappy in Ithaca. I was impressed by the UmN faculty and am also interested in the UMN dual MPH degree (which is also available remotely for people attending other vet schools).
