Anybody else wondering how Cornell's class can already be filled when the major batch of acceptances hasn't been sent out? I mean according to what other people have posted, last Wednesday's email only had about 10 people listed. Is that the major batch the admissions office keeps talking about? Also, isn't Cornell's primary acceptance day supposed to be in mid to late March? I dunno, maybe I'm just trying to delude myself into thinking that there's still hope. Any opinions?

scooby doo, i interviewed in mid january, i forget the exact date

the bad news is they also accepted a bunch for edp and another set in dec... :( so you know since there are only 101 slots maybe they have done all the accepting...HOWEVER! someone posted they have an interview for tomorrow 3/12???? is it only for the waitlist...

I also received my wait-list notification in the mail today.

For EDP only 2 people interviewed and 1 was accepted. i know this because i was the one that was deferred (post-interview)_ everyone else was rejected in sept. they may have 101 slots, but they accept around 230. supposedly, cornell pulls something like 30-40 off the waitlist every year, so if you get waitlisted, take heart.

i haven't heard anything from cornell yet since i was deferred, but they told my dean that i would be waitlisted. whatever. im sick of this. my heart's been broken way too many times this year for me to ever be excited about a school again.

i think that they are going rolling for this month, sending out decisions every wednesday as they finalize whatever they get to during their meetings. i only say this because i had a relatively long conversation with their receptionist last thursday, who informed me that decisions would be going out all month, that no final action was taken on my file, and that everyone would hear something by the end of the month.

good luck.

Hey choker that sucks! Can the Dean find out where you are on the waitlist? I got the sense she knew the cornell dean better than the columbia...also it sucks for me, I wonder if she tells cornell who was accepted at columbia...that sucks...I would have actually liked a choice if I were going to get one...my waitlist/rejection will be lost in purgatory considering I did a address change with amcas in jan and no one seems to haven't gotten it and my old mailbox stopped forwarding...

oh btw- in case you didn't read it in another post, i didn't get in because i was supposedly too "nervous/edgy during the interviews."

i interviewed on 9/12, less than 24 hours after watching the WTC collapse right outside my window.
cornell has yet to respond to my repeated requests for a second interview. so please dont blame me too much if i come off as sore when talking about cornell.

So did she tell you were you were ranked though???? yeah you know it is funny, my only interview where I forgot to shake hands with the guy on the way out....I have been wondering if that was going to kill me all these months...godda love it you are judged off your mistakes!

cornell doesn't rank. they have a slot for the disadvantaged jock, one for the dorky researcher, one for the colorectal surgeon from oregon, etc. and they pull people off the waitlist as their superior counterparts withdraw. this way, they keep the class diverse as hell.

i wasn't officially waitlisted yet. they told my dean in october that i would "most likely be waitlisted." i have no faith in anything about this process anymore, so i don't know what decision to expect from them.

trout- would you go to cornell over columbia?
-where does it look like you're going now?

I am pretty sure I would go to columbia, however, I have to admit this is based on having kinda bad interactions/impressions of the students at cornell...the day that I interviewed there were 3 married students who had lunch with us and told us that basically they didn't have time to go out...I actually am older and I still think that as a big let down...also I have heard very bad things about students can get clinical experience if they push for it (in their free time), but many times they get the honor of watching in the 3-4 years....there is also a quiz every monday (Yack!!!!)
on the flip side positives...they can do electives at any time during 3 and 4th year so they don't have to wait until the end of the 4th year to figure out what they want to do....there are a couple of people I would really like to do research with at memorial and sloan...
I guess I would like the chance to go back and look...plus I heard the financial aid is much better...but that might just be a bad rumor!

btw I wonder where the hell I am classified:)

I am also part of the waitlist crew...

Abram, did you just find out today?

choker have you had offical word???? You are just right up the street right??? Just asking for all of us that are sitting around doing nothing!!!

I got the letter (dated March 8) yesterday afternoon. I guess I was in the batch that the committee decided on last wednesday.

Thanks :)

•••quote:•••Could you tell us when you interviewed???/

Thanks :) [/QB]••••My waitlist letter was also dated March 8th. I interviewed in mid-February, and was quite surprised to hear anything this soon, as I was told that day that interviewing would continue through the end of March. I figured that meant decisions wouldn't be made until April as well.

I interviewed on Feb 7.

What about me????? I interviewed on October 3rd. Choker call Cornell and ask for me and I'll find out the scoop from Sinai for you :)

yeah I also interviewed in oct...what is up???? I am begining to think no news=bad news

Arrrrrrggggggh!!!!!!I just called them and said, " I interviewed on 0/3, when amy I expect to hear a decision"? The answer was, "this month". Why oh why can't they just tell you over the phone??? I hate this waiting - please trout give me some assurance instead of saying, no news = bad news. Didn't you ever hear the saying, no news is good news??

Okay, my 1000th post will be done ONLY if I get into Cornell.

well i know it looks bad, but cornell apparently tells you decision as soon as it's made, and when i called last thursday (after last week's meeting) the woman told me that no decision was made on me yet, and the letter that i recently sent in would reach the committee before a decision was made. so again, i would speculate that 1)i will not get any mail from cornell till after the next meeting (tomorrow) and 2)they are making final decisions on people as they come up throughout this month. so if you haven't heard, it may not be that bad.

-the only thing that bugs me is that there have been no post-interview rejections here yet.

Sorry to say it but I have noticed that most schools (that hold you in anticipation this long) start with acceptances then waitlist and bringing up the rear rejections...but don't worry I am not floating belly up yet!!!

I guess I will be looking in my mailbox! looks like that last trip to new york was a big waste of time and money for scooby

Not your last trip!!! YOu are coming to part at the end of april right?????

I just got off the phone with someone in the Cornell admissions office. She said that the class was NOT full yet and alot of acceptances still haven't been sent out.

But I don't know if I want to spend another 500 bucks or so just to fly out, get a cab, and go hang out at a school I will most likely attend. Unless someone offers to pick me up from the airport??? (*hint hint*)

We are still interviewing to fill the class for another 2 weeks..."

When I interviewed,

I saw out on the desk of one of my interviewers my folder along with 4 other folders.

On the folder it was typed "Waitlisted: YES"
Every one of the four folders said this.

Now, I am not sure if this is the "generic" box or if just all four people she happened to interview on that day were going to be waitlisted or if preinterview decisions were made or if I am just reading too much into it.

Did anyone else see their folder?

Did it have any indication like this on it?

Scoob- i asked my interviewer about that. They ALL say that. See ya --Trek

have you been nursing your a'hem..."wounds" recently?

How's med school hunting going ?

wouldn't that be something if there are no postinterview rejections, only waitlists!

i actually really wouldn't mind that at this point, being that the waitlist isn't ranked.

i mean, they do screen heavily before interview; problem is that they also screen heavily after interview as well.

I hope acceptances are still coming. I interviewed in January. If it is a waitlist or rejection, I just want to know, already. Oh, my number one choice, please let me in.

I will give you a ride as long as you promise not to leave any fleas! (and anyone else if you guys fly into the same airport) I guess you are right though...

It's not over yet, you poor, anxious ones. I passed a passel of interviewees not 10 minutes ago in the Cornell hallways. :)

Good luck to you all...

squeek- Are you being annoying or just condesending?

thems fightin words, trout.

Sorry all...been counting cells all day....I just didn't like the tone of that post.... :D
And like all just sick of waiting!!!!!

I haven't been neutered though so we'll have to pick up a bunch of bit{hes right away! will that be a problem? :)

Trout--

I was actually trying to be encouraging--I remember the anxiety, and I know the wait is tough. I was just trying to say that the interviewing isn't over, so don't give up hope.

I apologize if my wording offended you, and I really do wish you all the best of luck.
