CORNELL'S NEXT ACCEPTANCE BATCH: WEDNESDAY!!!???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
One of my friends who graduated 2 years ago told me that your interviewers rank you and they start at the top and take their first choice across the board and then move down the list...since I got a waitlist in one of the first batches, I wonder if they start with the bottom and start sending out rejections/waitlist...I don't know if there is any truth to this....

I have heard that letters of intent can be very helpful for the schools(who are looking for high matriculation rates) and can be influential as well. The way I see it, it definately cannot hurt, and theres not much of a difference between the applicants on the very top of the waitlist, and the accepted applicants besides luck and timing, so a letter could make the difference.

I would do it very soon though!

Maybe--then if you are waitlisted you could write another "reminder" letter. You never know how it might help.

Anyone else?

Has anyone here called to find out their status?

I just called and they gave me the same spiel. The committee is still meeting and all decisions will be mailed out by the end of the month.

I hate stupid freakin everything!!!!! THis sucks sucks sucks. I got a REJECTION

🙁•••••I'm sorry E'01...I know how much you liked this school. Don't give up hope...There's still more schools to hear from..right?

I called yesterday and they told me a decision had been made and mailed me something on Monday. So yesterday I got home and got a waitlist from them.

GO ahead and call them and see what they say. If they say a decision has been made: Bad news...that's either w/l or rejection.

IF they say NO DECISION has been made: GREAT NEWS! It means you still have a shot of getting right in 🙂

Heya Scoob - thanks for listening. Actually that's it the wholel med school process is officially over for me. I never did hear from Yale or Harvard but they're done interviewing. I am still waiting on Dartmouth/Brown but I wouldn't go there if I was to miraculously be accepted (the interview sucked).

No, I wouldn't call the office. I actually got a snail mail letter rejecting me. I doubt they made a mistake.

Waitlisted! That sucks. It was my first choice but at least I know. I am not sure if I will stay on the waitlist. I got into two very good schools so I might just try to make my decision between them.

I can't remember...where else are you in?

Well I got into NYU, Downstate, Columbia and Pitt. When I say very good schools, I mean Columbia and Pitt. Those are both excellent schools and I will get a good education at both. I just boohooed to my mama about the w/l at Cornell. I am going to withdraw from Cornell's waitlist and wait for financial aid to decide between Columbia and Pitt.
