I know that we briefly discussed this topic awhile back in summer. But I was curious if anyone has any information about the types of cosmetic procedures that are being done on the feet.

Quite a few surgeries are performed under the label of "cosmetics" - bunions (hallux and tailor's), and hammertoes are the big ones typically - although - these procedures should be only done to improve the function of the foot during the GAIT cycle not to keep the feet "looking nice" - at least that's my personal perspective.

the procedures that you mentioned are only considered cosmetic if the patient does it because their foot looks weird. If the incision is placed on the medial side of the bunion or medial or lateral side of the toe for a hammer toe it can be considered cosmetic. If it is for pain or cannot fit into shoes it is not considered cosmetic.

Typical cosmetic procedures are:

Restalyne injection into the plantar fat pad (ball of the foot) for comfort w/ high heels or fat pad atrophy.

Botox - stops the sweating

Foot Facials - Suzanne Levine does these www.institutebeaute.com

Medipedis - medical pedicure

2nd toe shortening (AKA arthroplasty) so women can fit their feet into pointed shoes better and get better toe cleavage

that is all I can think of for now.

Do people really botox their feet?

Krabmas:

Podiatrists are able to use Botox, but only on the feet, correct?

This depends on the scope of practice for the state.

Pods are using botox in the feet for over sweating, wrinkles on the dorsum of the foot, to relax intrinsic muscles in DM or cavus feet, gastroc muscles for forefoot ulcerations.
