Everyone complains about the cost of applying to dental schools so I was curious how much it actually costs. Can someone please break down the cost of applying to dental school.

i probably spent like $5000-$6000 dollars on everything

but just AADSAS

the first school is $196 for first school and $60 for each school after.
20 schools = $1336

DAT registration
$190

sending DAT scores
5 free schools then $25 per school
if you applied to 15 you will need to pay $250

i took a DAT prep course
~$1000

secondaries
each school wants a processing fee its usually $50 per school
10 schools thats ~$500

travel for interviews
plane ticket, hotel, car rental, food, etc..........
i probably spent like ~$1500

deposit
$1000

i dont know if thats what you were looking for..................

they do offer financial aid for some of the things.

i was just saying it MIGHT be a little different. AADSAS might increase the fees? i dont know the future.

i am not sure if you are talking about me but i only applied to 10 schools. i was just using 20 schools as an example.

I don't remember the exact numbers now but here's approximately what I shelled out:

$1200: DAT prep course
$600: Regestering for DAT and sending out scores
$1300: AADSAS app. for 20 schools
$1200: 2ndary app. fees
$1300: Interviews
$1500: Deposit for school
$500: Deposit for another school (not necessary of course)

So, my total for this cycle is about.....DAH DAH DAH....
$7600!!!!!

Plus I have another $500 deposit due in June 👎

I dropped over $10k if you include the whole enchilada. I know that seems like a ridiculous amount. I've been out of school for awhile though and didn't know any other predents (or about SDN) for comparison of what my chances were but also b/c I'm working so getting the money wasn't too hard. Some extra days of overtime was worth the peace of mind for me that I was making every effort to get in this year.
I think the average applicant should be able to get in spending ~$4k to $5k.

It's depend on how many schools you apply, but 5K -10K is the ball park.
