Could Someone Explain What's Happening?

Hello,

I would like to think I'm a pretty good applicant (~75 LizzyM, 17 schools applied, 6 II, 1 acceptance so far, 3 Pre-II rejections) but I just find some of this process a little weird from my perspective and was wondering if there were people familiar with this process (possibly those of you who work on admissions committees?) who could explain what's happening here....

I have counted 5 of my remaining 8 schools on my list as school's that have sent rejections waves Pre-II. And I mean a lot of them....they are well past my July complete date now and I honestly am unsure about this lack of action. Does anyone know what is happening here? Why the complete silence? Clearly the schools don't silent reject so what's happening? Should I be expecting to be interviewing for the waitlist at these schools?

I'm not an adcom but my understanding is that sometimes your app can either a. not yet be looked at by your reviewer, or b. be placed into the "maybe" pile... Meaning not stellar enough or unique enough to interview immediately, but we shouldn't reject this applicant either. And then as the cycle continues they come back to re evaluate your app.

Sound reasonable?

I'm in your exact situation with the exact same LizzyM. I have acceptances and IIs but have yet to hear anything from my top 3 favorite schools. I know it's very frustrating waiting, but I think as the person above said, we are in a pile of maybes, and I think there are more of people like you and I in this situation. There are tons of competitive applicants with the same statistics.

Thanks for the opinions. It's so frustrating and I'm impatient. I do have a few schools that I am/will be interviewing at that I rank highly but none of these schools have given me any decision yet so I am still in that nervous phase!

I know. Believe me. I know. You'll be fine in the end. Don't lose sight at the fact you've been accepted, and that in and of itself is a huge accomplishment.

feel your same anxiety. granted my lizzy m is 70 and I applied broadly to ~35+ schools, but have yet to get a single II. getting really nervous, anxious, dejected you name it 🙁
