Counseling Psy program/ Clinical Psy internship

I wanted an informal survey from those of you from Coun Psy programs but have gone on to Clinical Psy type internships. By this I mean hospitals, VA, DOD, prisons, etc. These type sites as opposed to university counseling centers, community mental health, etc. What challenges did you face and what strengths did you bring to the site? My master's mentor/advisor attended a counseling psych program and landed an internship at a VA consortium. He didn't speak of any challenges that he faced due to having attended a counseling program. <shrug>
