Countdown to Match Day 2015!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you get the physical letter at a celebration you can open it at noon eastern.

Does anybody know what is typical interaction on match day between programs and matched applicants? I have heard from classmates that PD's will call/email/or even text people welcoming them to the program. I ask because I am out of country on vacation and my cell is off. Just wondering how customary that is and if I should expect it?
I hope everyone gets the match of their dreams today and continues on to be very successful in their respective residencies!

At our program, the PD will call, and the Chair will send an email today. However, they realize that you may be busy partying and won't be answering. Not a big deal. However, watch for emails from your Program Coordinators, probably starting Monday; those are the ones that are important! (cause they give you the info you will need to get started!)

I have heard that they usually make contact to congratulate the newly matched resident, expect a few calls or emails.

And it would be customary to contact the PD pretty quickly and thank them for the opportunity.

What site was the most helpful for all of you? I am a 3rd year medical student and looking forward to getting advice from others about applying for residency! Congratulations to everyone!!

Probably not this thread. I think that reviewing the SOAP thread could be useful. Most of the folk struggling over there right now are:
-IMGs
-AMGs with gaps in training
-Anyone not applying broadly enough
-Anyone with a disconnect between application strength and residency type

Once the match is over...the ERAS/NMRP thread will turn into a ghost town until next match cycle.

You are better off asking your questions either on the General residency, Osteopathic, or Allopathic threads.

Good luck!

Woohoo!! Well, the festivities are here and gone (haha, before tonight's start!). Pleasantly surprised to have matched higher on my list than expected - at the one place in my top 5 that I didn't think I'd ever match!

Congrats to everyone! I"m going to enjoy the best part of med school - after match and before the real work starts!

I'm very unhappy. Matched near the bottom of my rank list at a place I almost didn't rank. My application was strong and I'm pretty personable and I think I interview very well. I don't know what to think right now.

Hey Geek, I'm sorry this has happened to you. It seems like this was a very tough, competitive year. I am truly sorry where you ended up matching was unexpected and disheartening.

All I can really say is it will work out. You have a spot and I know your husband and kids don't think any less or more of you just because of what number on your ROL you matched at. I am a firm believer in being the master of your own destiny. So what you matched at your last rank, or near last! YOU determine what type of physician you will be. YOU determine how much your patients need and love you.

I hope you soon forget this disappointment and move on. You did it. You matched! And as long as you put the effort in you will be a great physician!
