looks like fewer unfilled rads spots this year.

(of course this doesn't really mean anything. Just that programs did a better job interviewing this year)

You guys forgot 4 yesterday

just thinking the same thing man. Its like winning a lottery with out knowing how much you won. just as much an annoyance as NK's threats.

UF - Gainesville here. Excited to get my home gym built.

Nice, congrats! Did you get that prelim that has a TY schedule? Wish I got something like that...ended up dropping farther down on my prelim list than I thought I would. Got a traditional IM prelim in a large academic center...yikes. 11 blocks of medicine and 2 electives I'm not even sure about yet if they can be rads.

I did get it. 4.5 months of wards, 1.5 month of night float (which is pretty cush there), 2 months of ambulatory, 1 MICU and then a couple of electives. Also 4 weeks off.

Seems like a lot of people dropped on their list. People at my school are convinced something weird happened behind the scenes.

It was impossible to SOAP to a prelim position. I believe the all in policy had affected the # of prelim spots available, especially at my home institution.

Took the words out of my mouth on that last part. Welps...anyone want to switch a prelim? I'd like to be in the south like my rads rather than mid atlantic.
I was never offered a uf gville interview for prelim after my rads. Wish i could go there.

I also dropped some on my list but matched at a place I love that was my number 2 before I mixed things up. Thrilled with my match.😎

Matched #1 and #1, but they are both at my home institution. I couldn't be more thrilled!

Is switching prelims allowed or doable at all?

This is purely anecdotal, but I heard that as long as it is a 1:1 switch and the PDs are good with it, the NRMP is ok with a switch. Don't quote me on this one....... but you DO have to go through the NRMP. For family reasons I might be trying that. I would let you know if I do. Regardless, I am not holding my breath and still preparing for my current internship until it happens.

YMMV.

Yeah my prelim is really far the hell away from where I'll be doing rads, but in a great city. Might look into the switch idea.

Just went on residencyswap.com, so that site is $80/mo? Is that even remotely worth it?

They may be easier with prelims, but having gone through it with my girlfriend, it was an epic struggle and they rejected her request despite having a valid reason and nobody missing out.

Been crazy busy this season with family stuff and general stress so I haven't posted ... I have been checking the forum a lot during the season though so I thought I should at least contribute a bit. Especially since one of the things I was most interested in was getting an idea of how far down peoples match list they went.

I ended up getting my number one for both prelim and Rads!!! 😀

I'm an average applicant and I ended up at a middle of the road program. FWIW I did get interviews at more power house places but location and my desire for a more chill program won out over name for me when it came time to rank. Super happy and congrats to everyone! We're going to be Radiologists!!! (Intern year is going to suck .... at least it's only one year ... 😉 haha)

At my school it seemed like many people had a hard time getting into TYs this year.
Gonna be interesting to see the NRMP list this monday.
