Hey everyone,

Just some quick questions, I would be grateful if anyone can help!

1) If you held multiple position in one organization, should I create a new entry for each one? For example, I was historian, philanthropy, and secretary for my fraternity in the two years I've been in there. Would I create three entries different entries each with the same organization name or just write it once and state I held three positions there?

2) In terms of total and average hours, do I just do my best and guesstimate?

3) Should I only add extracurricular activities that pertains closely to PT or show I have leadership or some sort of volunteering experience? What about if I was just a member of a ethnic club?

Another question just popped into my head.

4) My university is on a quarter system so we are required to take 3 quarters of general chemistry. My freshman year, I took my first quarter of Chem and got a F, retook it the next quarter and got a C-... Just this past summer, I took the "A" portion of general chem at a community college and got a B+. I was reading up on Sacramento State's GPA requirements and it states, " If a course is repeated three times to complete one required prerequisite, then the applicant will be disqualified." Same goes with Chapman University, "Prerequisite courses may be repeated only once; the second grade will then be used to calculate PGPA." So, does that mean I should not even bother applying there?

Thanks everyone and I appreciate any feedback!

I'm not applying until next year, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I suggest looking around this forum more, or asking PTCAS (via facebook) or the schools directly.

1) Not sure about this one. I feel like either one would be okay, if you feel like you need extra room to talk about your responsibilities for each one. I'd ask PTCAS about this, but search the forums too. I remember reading this same question but don't remember the answers given.

2) I keep track of all my hours on a spreadsheet, so I'm not sure what to tell you. When I applied for colleges, I had to just guess for all my hours. You don't have to verify them, so just guess. If you have absolutely no idea, maybe ask a supervisor/other club member if they have an educated guess.

3) Don't only do PT related activities. There are so many ways you can show leadership/commitment/communication skills, so I recommend including other activities. If you have leadership/volunteering, this is the place to include it! You can decide about the ethnic club/any other hobbies that you may have. If it took up a significant amount of time, then I'd include it. Adding that you were a member of the ethnic club will definitely not hurt you, but I can't say that it will help much.

4) For the first quarter of Chem, is this the same as the "A" portion that you retook for the B+? If it is, then you repeated the class twice, and took it three times. I'm not sure what they count as a repeat. Please just ask the schools themselves! You only have to contact two schools, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Thank you for all the answers Kuhdaytee! It definitely helps a lot.

In regards to the 3 course repeat questions I suggest you call or email Sac State and explain to them your situation. That way you can get a definite answer about your question. 🙂 best of luck.

I just realized after reading Kuhdaytee's post that I only repeated Chem twice, but took the class three times. Thanks anyways dlsf 🙂 Best of luck to you too!
