First off thanks for reading this. I am going to be graduating with my B.A. in Communications and Social Sciences double major with probably a GPA of at least a 3.5. I haven't taken any science class because I wanted to graduate with my BA in something other then science and then focus. I worked fulltime all throughout my undergraduate except when i studied abroad. I'm living in WA state for school but moving back to California to apply for Post-Baccs and would love to do Scipps or USC (but SC is really expensive and 2 years!). I also will have been volunteering 16 hours a week for 5 months by the time I apply for Post-Bacc. These are my questions:

1. My SAT scores were crappy i think i got like a 980, family issues during that time... is this going to be a problem?
2. Should I apply to out of state post-baccs or stick to CA? If so which ones aren't to costly and still good?
3. For letter of recommendations, who would be good candidates to fill them out? I have a doctor that basically started me on wanting to go to med school because he had faith in me, would he be a good letter of rec?

Sorry this was long, thanks for who ever voices an opinion. 🙂 Have a good day.

For Scripps, yes. You should take the GRE probably if you want a realistic chance at gaining admission.

Most of the good formal postbac programs besides Mills, Scripps, and USC, are in the Midwest or East Coast, so you need to decide if you want to move across the country. If so, there are a lot of options.

That sounds like a good LOR if they know you very well. Other than that, teachers and employers would be good candidates for LORs.

Read the Prospective Scripps thread for more info about that program.

So I can retake a standardized test (the GRE's) and send those in place of the SAT's, do I need to inform the school I took both or just send in the GRE result.

They're probably going to want both. I would actually email or call Jodi at Scripps to ask her what she thinks. BTW, as I mentioned in the Prospective Scripps thread, they're pretty much done for admissions this year, just so you know. Someone told me they said they had only a few spots left and that was a couple weeks ago.

Yeah, I talked to Jodi last week actually. They fill up quicker and quicker each year, for the last couple years she said they haven't even made it to the March deadline. Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it! I am going to email her about the GRE issue, but I'm going to take them anyway, I figure it wont hurt as a back-up plan. I'm applying in September for Scripps, the first day, I figure I can save up the money from now until next Fall considering I wont be able to work during the program. Thanks again!
