I'm trying to get my Spring schedule together. What I'm leaning towards is this:
Intro to Biochemistry level 300
Fund. of cell bio and dev. level 200
Topics in Human Genetics level 400
Physics 2 lab
And two psych classes.
16 credits, 10 science

I was thinking of throwing Endo in there and getting rid of one of the psych classes or switching out the genetics class, or instead of adding endo I could do Immunology. I'll be applying this may, I'd like to have the strongest app possible, and I thought that taking a final heavy courseload would look good. I figured if i don't make it in this cycle I can just take endo and immun next year when they won't have to be paired with Biochem. Any opinions.
Current stats: GPA 3.71 Science 3.70

I think it is a good iead to take a heavy course load right before you apply (unless you need to study for the DAT). I did that this past year and took Biochem 423, Human Anatomy I, a prosecting lab, Human Physiology with an associated lab, Microbiology with an associated lab, an Oral Health class, and some upper level core classes like History and religion, plus some PE classes. I worked my butt off and got straight A's that semester, and this year at my interviews it got noticed a lot. One guy at Marquette said I really kicked butt that semester, and was impressed I could handle such a tough load and pull off the grades I did. So I say do it, but don't do too much where you get bad or sub par grades. You want to finish as strong as possible.

I think taking a challenging course load does distinguish you from everyone else who only took the pre-requisites. Some schools will out right say on their websites that students who have xyz upper level division sciences are given preference. Only take on what you can handle though. You'll definitely be competitive with that GPA.
