Hey guys,

This is probably a dumb question but please bear with me. Which number do you put in this box? Say you have a class like "Biology 101". Do you put the "101" or is it the course control number like 11956 that you use to sign up for the class?

The AMCAS instruction manual didn't help!

Thanks in advance.

Do you have your transcripts handy? If you do, then each course will have its course number next to it...that's the number they're looking for. I think it just facilitates they're verification of your courses against your transcripts.

If you don't have transcripts with you, take a look at your school's course catalog.

Hope this helps.

By the way, it should look something like BIO 101

Thanks for the quick reply. I have my transcript handy but what's funny is that there are 2 different sets of numbers. One of them is an assigned number which goes from 811 to 842 sequentially and are located on the right side of course names. The other one is the usual course number/letter like "1A" for General Chemistry 1a. So i'm pretty sure I have to put "1A" for course number? And not 819?

Thanks again

If the numbers on the right (811-842) are sequential, then it doesn't sound like those are unique course identifiers. I could go with the numbers on the left. Do none of the numbers at least have a unique department identifier (i.e. CHEM 1A to indicate it is a course offered by the Chemistry Department)?

Actually, they do! sorry, it took me awhile to see what you were talking about. But yeh, CHEM for chem department, BIOLOGY for bio department. I'll juse those unique numbers for the course identifiers. thanks again!

Glad I could be of service...I've started asking my fair share of application questions too...

On the AMCAS website, you can find the following file.
http://www.aamc.org/students/applying/advisors/2x_verified_app.pdf[/URL]

This file is a sample 2006 verified AMCAS application which can be used as an example by advisors. I think you may find this helpful to resolve this questions and others. 👍
