This could be a very dumb question, but under "Course Number" on the AMCAS, would we put something like "CHEM 101" or just the number "101."

The only reason I ask this, is because without the prefix, some of my courses are ambiguous as to what category they are in, so the prefix would help.

Thanks

CHEM 101. AMCAS has a PDF with instructions if you have other questions. It's also filled with useful examples. I forget the link, but it should be on the AMCAS website.

put down what you see on your transcript.

👍 The link to the Applicant Instruction Book is here. Good luck!

I just put "101" and was verified without correction.

So then the best scenario is that either way should work. I put "CHEM 101" to eliminate ambiguity. I did this to emphasize the departments each course was taught under (since AMCAS classifications aren't exactly all-inclusive).

Can we get that stickied or something? I think everyone should read that before filling out their AMCAS because it answers SO many questions.

Yes it does, but I wonder.. If they aren't reading the material AAMC tells them to read, would they stop to read a sticky about it? Look how many repeat posts there are despite our urging posters to search before they post! 😱
