Course retake Conondrum

I got a C my freshmen year in history, due to my juvenile mentality of not going to class being cool.

I am planning on retaking it this fall semester online to replace that C with an easy A but it is only 3 credits, as to where the first time I took it was 4 credits at another school.

How does this equate? I'm lost on what to do here.

The retake has to be equal or more credits. that wont count. Find an online course
