I sent some questions I had for entering coursework and got a fast and helpful reply from AMCAS. I thought I'd post it so others with similar questions can benefit.
1. Many courses listed on my transcript are abbreviated from the title of the course given on syllabi or in the course catalog (e.g. "Abnorm Psy" instead of "Abnormal Psychology"). Should I enter the course names exactly as they appear on the transcript or as the full name of the course?
answer: You can list the full course name even if the abbreviated version appears on the official transcript.
2. I am currently enrolled in what is called an "extended term" course at my university. It is listed on my transcript as part of my Spring 2009 semester but the course doesn't end until October 15, 2009, so I don't have a grade yet. Should I select "Current/Future," "deferred grade," or both in my entry of this course?
answer: If the course does not end until October 15th, you would select 'current/future' as the special course type.
3. Many courses at my school have "discussion sections" separate from the lecture, especially in humanities courses. Can I list this as a lab even if we didn't do anything science-related?
answer: The lab/lecture indication is not verified by AMCAS and left to each applicant's discretion.
(note: I decided not to label it as a lab--I don't want them thinking I'm lying if I say I had a lab in a history course)
