I dont even know what the hell my last sentence said !! Oh well, i guess i just mean define a coutesy interview !

I'm assuming it's an interview at a school you have no shot at getting into. They know it. You know it. They know you know it, but they invite you anyway.

I seriously doubt med schools have the time and resources to devote to spending on students they aren't going to seriously consider. I think if a school invites you for an interview (aside from state schools that invite all residents), they believe you *could* get in if you have the right combination of other things...

I agree with you... unless a school invites you as a favor to someone else, or they invite you to invterview for a class that is already full.

A courtesy interview is when you go all the way to a school and your interviewer more or less tells you there is no way in hell you are getting into their school with those kind of numbers and then proceeds to apologize for wasting your time with a **** grin on their face. Not that this has happened to me or anything. And not like this has happened on more than one occasion.

I was told at every single one of my interviews that my numbers were low. The most commonly asked question for me was: "How do you account for your below average gpa?"

"Well, you see, it's a weighted average of my grades, and I got a lot of grades that were not A's. As a result, the weighted average deviated from the putative 4.0 value expected if one were to receive all A's."

Seriously, the interview is all about establishing that you're inteligent and a clear communicator...so give a good explanation, like the one I posted.
