Hi there!

I am applying to a post-bacc research fellowship at a hospital. They require a cv, transcript, recommenders, and a cover letter.

My previous experience with cover letters (in the business world) was that they should be somewhat brief. However, I have held a few research positions, had a research fellowship, an honor's thesis, and clinical experience.

My draft cover letter for this fellowship is currently 700 words. Is this too long? Admittedly it falls somewhere between a statement of purpose and cover letter, but I wonder if this is the format these types of programs are looking for.

Would love to hear from the experts.

I would keep it under a page. You really never go over a page for those things unless you are applying for an academic job after you have already graduated.
