My work had training on CPR & First Aid tonight, 4 hour course. Just wondering if it is worth including in an update to school where I applied. I figured I would include it in an email stating my continued interest in the school.... thoughts?

I don't think that's important at all and is not worth notifying schools only about CPR certification. You'll have to be recertified anyways once you begin school in the fall.

Nah, they'll probably re-train you in 'CPR for the Healthcare Provider' during your first week of med school anyway.

this would look really desperate 😀

certainly, what better way to stand out from the crowd? i just learned how to ride a bike, you guys think i should send an update letter to Hopkins? I hear they like individuals who have overcome a challenge 🙄

By the time you get to M3 it would have already expired. Either way you do it in M3 as far as I know as part of ACLS.

M3? Our school did it the first week of M1.... everyone had to be certified just to be in the hospital/clinics with our preceptors...

I would be insulted if I was on an admissions committee and someone felt that a CPR certification was so important that they should update us with it.

Lol. Like a M1 is going to be the one reviving a patient during shadowing.
Lots of places require AHA Health Care Providers cards just to volunteer. I just had to renew my cert today,.

People who work in the lab and never interact with patients still have to be CPR certified just to work in the hospital. It's pretty universal.

I say it's definitely not worth it. But, it's your app.

LULZ.
Never update schools for something you did in 4 hours.

i think that if you write a letter of interest focusing mainly on the school and also include what you've been up to for the past few months and what you will be doing for the next few months, you might as well include it as an aside.
